Welcome to ring_drabbles, a 100-word challenge community dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and it's film adaptions directed by Peter Jackson.

ring_drabbles was originally created July 14, 2010 on Livejournal.com and was inspired by the Harry Potter community, hpgw100, for Harry Potter and Ginny Weaseley. Additionally, searching for 100-word related communities for Lord of the Rings and coming up empty (with just a few exceptions, plus these: lotr100 AND lotr_100 which I was not aware were writing communities to begin with), I decided to make this one. I later deleted several years before I officially left LiveJournal in 2017.

ring_drabbles is true to the idea of the 100 Word and "100"-themed challenge communities like LiveJournal's fanfic100: 100 Prompt tables will be available for the user to choose from and write at their leisure. However, if you're not interested in the tables, every five and two weeks a theme will be posted for members to write a drabble about and post here. Members will have five and two weeks to complete the posted theme before the next is posted.

MEMBERSHIP AND POSTING IS MODERATED. There are no deadlines outside the allotted five and two week week period in which a theme or prompt remains relevant.


IMPORTANT RULES:
What's Allowed:
#1. Drabbles concerning the book or movie universes of Lord of the Rings and their characters. This includes appendices characters or characters or histories who are mentioned in other Middle-Earth related tales which are connected to LOTR (ancestors, 1st age characters and the like).
#2. Gen, Het, Slash and Femslash related drabbles.
#3. Community or PRG promotion so long as the promotional material is within 250 or 350 pixels and relates to LOTR. Promotional material wit images over 500 pixels will be rejected.

What's not allowed:
#1. Incestuous Relationships (See: gondorcest or rohancest).
#2. Real Person Fanfiction (See: fellow_shippers or lotrips100)
#3. Relationships featuring minors or children romantically involved with adults.
#4. Fetishization of sexual assault and other abuses.
#5. Racism, sexism, bestiality, necrophilia, homophobia, transphobia.
#6. Spamming, Trolling, Bashing. The works which fall within negative territory not appreciated by anyone (writer, commenter, moderator or graphic maker alike).
#7. Locked entries that require a membership to view. Please leave posts unlocked for at least a week before closing, or don't post at all if you cannot abide by this rule.

PRIMARY RULES:
#1. All stories posted must be 100 words long. No more, no less, no exceptions.
#2. Only post stories pertaining to the prompts and themes provided on the community.
#3. With the exception of "double drabbles" (two drabbles in one post pertaining to the same theme), drabbles must be able to stand alone. No chapter drabbles.
#4. Posts not concerning the community's current theme, i.e. Off-Topic Posts, are not allowed. Unless specified, only Mod Posts are allowed to be posted outside of drabble submissions.
#5. All drabbles must be posted at the community and placed behind a cut. You can, however, still provide links to where you archived your stories (AO3, your personal journal, tumblr, etc.).

#6. All drabbles must be rated accordingly to their content. No exceptions.

#8. Be respectful and mindful of fellow members and moderators. If you do not like a certain pairing or character an author has chosen to write about, please avoid the post at all costs.

#10. Failure to follow the rules with result in a BAN from the community. No Exceptions.
